During asbestos removal at Reg Stilwell flats, the team identified that a number of the units where asbestos removal was to be undertaken had black mould growing. It was spread throughout the ground floor of the building.
The mould remediation became a priority to ensure the area was safe for our asbestos team to carry out work.
A removal methodology was created covering the remediation process to ensure the mould was dealt with safely.
The mould was treated with a chemical spray to kill any living spores before a negative pressure enclosure was created inside the unit.
The team then removed and bagged all soft furnishings, linings and carpets within the area and disposed of these as contaminated waste.
An environmental clean was then undertaken throughout the ground floor to ensure all mould spores were removed.
Once clearance was confirmed, the enclosure was taken down and the asbestos removal process was started.
