COMMERCIAL APARTMENT COMPLEX

This project involved a complete non-structural strip out of a large multi storey apartment complex located on the waterfront in Queenstown.

The picturesque location came with some key challenges which required our team to thoroughly assess all health, safety and environmental risks at the front end t ensure stringent controls were implemented and maintained from beginning to completion.

We encompassed the entire structure with a scaffolding system wrapped in heavy duty plastic to create an envelope around the complex. This strategy contained demolition debris and provided a weather tight working environment for the team. The scaffolding envelope remained in place until project completion.

The apartment complex had limited access and structural loading restrictions which required the majority of the deconstruction to be completed by hand. Where possible small 1.5t excavators were used to assist with the work.

To streamline the process, and to meet the programme demands, we allocated a large resource pool to the project and employed some out of the box thinking to help ease the manual handling. For more information, watch our video to learn how we tackled this challenging project.
