The Scope Team were engaged to complete the demolition of the top and bottom gondola terminal buildings in Queenstown to make way for the new terminal facilities and major restaurant expansion.

Great time was taken to develop strategic deconstruction methodologies for this high-profile project to ensure the safest and most efficient processes were implemented. We were highly focussed on site and programme constraints and controls to mitigate all environmental and safety risks. Each terminal structure was broken down into sections with clear sequencing plans in place to maintain structural integrity and safety during the deconstruction. Clear communication was a crucial element of ensuring project success as there were multiple other trades working in conjunction with each other at all times.

We maximised our recycling opportunities by reducing the volume of waste sent to landfill. All concrete was crushed and repurposed. Reenforcing steel from concrete was separated and recycled and all metals were recycled. Our landfill diversion was 82% of the total waste volume!

To add to the various project complexities and challenges the project was completed during the winter months so the team were exposed to some harsh environmental conditions. The Scope Team worked hard to deliver this project to a high standard achieving all project milestones.
